The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) produces Research Websites (“microsites”)—online publications that have been produced as part of individual research projects, often through cooperations with other organizations—which serve as information portals, databases, and more. They give access to and contextualize resources relevant to the Institute’s research, and allow researchers to take advantage of digital methods for publishing their research outputs.

These Research Websites showcase the digital research outputs of the MPIWG. Online publishing is an integral part of research in all Departments and Research groups. Research Websites enable researchers to provide access to additional material relevant to their research—such as primary sources and research data. In addition, our researchers are experimenting with ways of presenting their research that go beyond the means offered by printed publication.
