Zoltán Simon

Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow (2021)

Dr.

At the time of commencing his stay at MPIWG, Zoltán is assistant professor at Leiden University and research fellow at Bielefeld University. At the most general level, his recent work aims to map a new historical condition and a new knowledge regime emerging out of the anthropocenic and technoscientific challenges of our times.

Working at the intersection of history of knowledge, historical theory, intellectual history, and history of science and technology, Zoltán is involved in a large variety of collaborative projects. The latest being a collective research program/publishing experiment co-conducted with Marek Tamm in cooperation with the journal History and Theory under the title "Historical Futures." The project features contributions in an experimental serial publishing format on a rolling basis in each issue of History and Theory over the course of the next couple of years, starting with the project-opener article in March 2021.

Zoltán's further articles can be read in journals ranging from The Anthropocene Review, through History of the Human Sciences, to the European Journal of Social Theory. He is the author of two books: History in Times of Unprecedented Change: A Theory for the 21st Century (London: Bloomsbury, 2019) and The Epochal Event: Transformations in the Entangled Human, Technological, and Natural Words (Cham: Palgrave, 2020).
