Victoria Lee

Victoria Lee is a historian of East Asian science and technology. She received her PhD from Princeton University in 2014. Her book project The Arts of the Microbial World: Biosynthetic Technologies in Twentieth-Century Japan looks at Japanese society’s engagement with microbes in science, industry, and environmental management. She is also beginning work on a new project on schemes to understand and manage gene flow in late twentieth-century Japan. She was awarded the inaugural Forum for the History of Science in Asia Essay Prize given at the History of Science Society in 2013. She is now an assistant professor of history of science and technology at Ohio University as of August 2016.
