Thilo Neidhöfer

Thilo Neidhöfer is a PhD candidate at the University of Linz. He studied history and political science at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, obtaining his MA in 2009 with a thesis on autobiographical practices of subjectivation of English merchants in the seventeenth century. After graduation, he was a research assistant at the Institute of History at the University of Oldenburg and worked as a Youth Counselor. From 2012 to 2016, he was a research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Linz. In 2013, he was a doctoral fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC. Thilo recently received a scholarship from the International Research Institute for Cultural Studies in Vienna (IFK). At the MPIWG, he is completing his dissertation, titled “The Steady State of Cultures—Margaret Mead, Gregory Bateson, and American Anthropology, ca. 1930–1950.”
