Simon Werrett

Simon Werrett is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at University College London. Previously he was an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he taught the history of science from 2002 to 2012. Werrett’s research explores the history of scientific practices and material cultures, with a focus on early modern Britain, France, and Russia. He is the author of Fireworks: Pyrotechnic Arts and Sciences in European History (University of Chicago Press, 2010) and most recently Thrifty Science: Making the Most of Materials in the History of Experiment (University of Chicago Press, 2019).
