Julia Sittmann

Publications Manager

Julia Sittmann is the publications manager for the Department on Knowledge Systems and Collective Life. She holds degrees in History and German from McGill University (Montréal, Canada), in European History from the University of Toronto (Canada), and in Middle Eastern and Ottoman History from The George Washington University (Washington DC). Her research has been supported by a CLIR-Mellon fellowship, as well as the DAAD, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Société et Culture (FRQSC) and the Volkswagen Foundation, among others. She has worked as an academic editor, translator, indexer, writer and language teacher for the Goethe Institut (Montréal, Canada & Kabul, Afghanistan), Deutsche Welle Akademie, and Ruhr Universität Bochum, as well as a freelancer for institutions and emerging scholars across Europe and North America. She was previously the managing editor of Moving the Social, a journal focused on social history and social movement studies.
