Agnes Bauer
Visiting Predoctoral Fellow (2023–2024)
Agnes Bauer graduated with a master’s degree in the history of science and technology from Technische Universität Berlin after having completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Presently, they are an associated PhD candidate at the Leibniz Center for Contemporary History in Potsdam (ZZF) and work as a lecturer at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces (HSU) in Hamburg. At the MPIWG, Agnes will be part of the Research Group “Premodern Sciences of Soul and Body,” researching the history of psychological vocational testing in Germany between the 1920s and the 1960s. Agnes is a member of the German society for the history of science, medicine, and technology GWMT and the society for the history of technology GTG, where they have given talks presenting their master’s and doctoral research. They acted as the PhD candidates’ representative at the Leibniz Center for Contemporary History in Potsdam in 2021–22.
