Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, scientists and researchers have been more in demand than ever before.

MPIWG Director Jürgen Renn has been quoted in this article in Die Zeit, where he argues that the communicative handling of Corona can be seen as "training for further crises." Researchers need to network better and become “more able to speak” to society: “The sciences are strong in organizing themselves, but they fail when it really comes down to dealing with politics and the public in a coordinated manner.” From Renn's point of view, a more powerful national academy is therefore needed, like that of the Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina in Germany.
