The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (Dept. I, Jürgen Renn) is looking to employ a

Student Assistant for the Digital Humanities Project
"The Formation of the Research Field of General Relativity: Social Networks and Semantic Modeling"

starting as soon as possible (March 2018). The position (up to 60 hours per month) is limited until September 30, 2018 (with the possibility of extension).

Applicants must be in at least their third semester of study at a university in Berlin or Brandenburg. We encourage applications from students with an interdisciplinary outlook, who have an interest in learning more about Digital Humanities and the computer sciences. They should have a good working knowledge of modern information technology and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Preference will be given to students who have some knowledge of the following disciplines: physics, statistics, sociology, modern history. Good knowledge of English is also necessary.

The position entails the following duties: helping to create and maintain databases and digital repositories, assisting with editorial work on scientific texts (in English and German), literature research, image editing, layouting, text conversion.

The salary is paid according to the rates for student employment in the frame of the Max Planck Society’s program to support junior scientists.
