Jing Wang is a PhD candidate at Radboud University, the Netherlands, and a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow at the MPIWG. She has a background in philosophy, history of science and STS. She is interested in scholarly publishing, research evaluation, and research integrity. She specializes in exploring the intricacies of scientific publishing and evaluation systems. Her PhD dissertation research involves conducting qualitative studies on the similarities and differences of the Chinese scientific publication system compared to its international counterparts, by investigating key stakeholders’ practices within different evaluation regimes, publishing standards, and traditions. She has published and presented her work in multiple venues and is now working on an article about the journal attention economy in China. At the MPIWG, Jing will be part of the Lise Meitner Research Group "China in the Global System of Science," researching the institutionalization of journal metrics and rankings in the Chinese research assessment framework.
