Visual depictions of heavenly phenomena show how different experts have mixed and altered concepts, structures, and forms, and how they drew on various cultural repertoires and registers of knowledge. In this video, historian of science Sonja Brentjes traces her path to this research area at Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, and introduces a new image database that will facilitate further research on the topic.
