Andrea Střelcová

Predoctoral Fellow (Jun 2020-May 2023)

Andrea Střelcová is a Predoctoral Fellow in the Lise Meitner Research Group China in the Global System of Science, led by Dr. Anna L. Ahlers. Her PhD project studies the internationalization of Chinese higher education institutions and the role of scientific talents in shaping  Sino-European research and innovation cooperation. Her research interests cover EU-China relations with a particular focus on higher education management, research and innovation policy, and skilled migration within the context of contemporary Chinese socio-economic development. She also lectures at the "Center for Cultural Studies on Science & Technology in China" at the TU Berlin.

Andrea Střelcová holds an MSc in Anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a focus on China and a BA from the Charles University in Prague in International Relations and Area Studies. She studied Chinese at the National Chengchi University in Taipei and Beijing Normal University. From 2013 to 2016, Andrea headed the China office of EURAXESS, the European Commission’s initiative supporting researchers’ mobility, in Beijing. Before joining MPIWG, she worked as a project manager for cooperation with Asia at the Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, and as a researcher at the ESSCA School of Management’s EU-Asia Institute.
