Andrea Střelcová

Predoctoral Fellow (Jun 2020-May 2023)

Andrea Střelcová is a member of the Lise Meitner Research Group China in the Global System of Science, led by Dr. Anna L. Ahlers. Andrea is a Predoctoral Fellow at the MPIWG, carrying out her PhD in cooperation with the Faculty of Management and Business at the Tampere University (Finland). She is also an associate lecturer at the Center for Cultural Studies on Science & Technology in China (CSST) at the TU Berlin. In her PhD project, she studies the internationalization of Chinese higher education and the dynamics of global research cooperation with China. More widely, her research interests include higher education, research and innovation policy and management, science diplomacy, EU-China relations, and skilled migration within the context of China’s socio-economic development.

Andrea holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in anthropology with a China focus and a BA from Charles University in Prague in international relations and area studies. Before joining the MPIWG, Andrea worked as a project manager at Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (Czech Republic) and a researcher at the ESSCA School of Management’s EU-Asia Institute (France). In PR China, she gained work experience with the EU Delegation to China and Mongolia, and as a country representative of EURAXESS China, the European Commission’s initiative supporting researchers’ mobility. She studied Chinese at the National Chengchi University in Taipei and Beijing Normal University.
