While Edition Open Access is an established platform for publishing research results openly on the Internet, current work is focused on a stronger integration of the publication of research results with sources and methods used to obtain these results. This includes the provision of interactive methods that enable the reader to follow arguments based on computational methods. Taking up the idea of a digital scrapbook, the focus is now on the development of “Digital Notebooks,” which serve as intermediaries between publication and interactive tools. In collaboration with the Max Planck Research Fellow Gerd Graßhoff, the Department is developing an infrastructure to integrate the writing of interactive articles, data publication, and the presentation of source materials.
