Einstein Auction

Visiting Scholar Michel Janssen was interviewed by Ritula Shah for BBC Radio on the auction of the Einstein-Besso manuscript at Christie’s auction house, Paris. The manuscript, which ultimately fetched eleven million euros, comprises a series of calculations using the early version of the field equations of Einstein's general theory of relativity. The aim was to test whether the theory could account for the well-known anomaly in the motion of the perihelion of Mercury.
