Alumnus Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow Tristan Brown has been awarded the John K. Fairbank Prize in East Asian History. He received the prize for his book Laws of the Land: Fengshui and the State in Qing Dynasty China.

Laws of the Land includes research and findings from Tristan's time at the Department III Working Group “Fenye in Local Gazetteers.” It specifically examines the roles fengshui played in the Qing Dynasty administration, particularly in its legal system.
