Ten Years of Excellence Cluster Topoi: New Perspectives on the Old World

The Excellence Cluster Topoi, part of the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin, celebrates its tenth anniversary this month. The Excellence Cluster was set up in 2007 with funds from the Federal Government and the Länder Excellence Initiative. In addition to the two universities, other institutions involved include the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences, the German Archaeological Institute, the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation.

The Excellence Cluster is to mark the anniversary with a public conference, "New Perspectives on the Old World," at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. On April 19, 2018, researchers will offer short lectures providing insights into the broad spectrum of research into antiquity.
