Visiting Scholar Benjamin Steiniger and Alexander Klose have contributed to the SZ Großformat series a miniature exhibition with an accompanying article about their research project “Beauty of Oil.” The weekly series introduces readers to lost or unknown pieces of art by telling their story. In this exhibition Steininger and Klose provide an insight into their ongoing work writing a cultural history of oil, arguing that one has to understand the political, economical, aesthetic, and philosophical dimensions of the so-called "Petro Modernity" in order to move away from oil.
