Museum of the Anthropocene: Postdoctoral Fellow Marianna Szczygielska Exhibits At Museum for Natural History in Wrocław

Postdoctoral Fellow Marianna Szczygielska is exhibiting at Museum of the Anthropocene (October 22, 2021–February 17, 2022), organized by students and staff of the Institute of Cultural Studies at the University of Wrocław in collaboration with the Natural History Museum Wrocław, and the Contemporary Museum in Wrocław, Poland.

This artistic intervention, an elephant with pink tusks, draws attention to the problem of ivory trade as the main driver of elephant extinction. Marianna's artwork is inspired by a proposal from wildlife conservationists to dye the tusks of elephants living in nature reserves in order to deter poachers from hunting the animals for ivory.
