It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Jochen Schneider, who passed away on May 27, 2022 after a long illness. Jochen was the Institute’s Research Coordinator for more than 20 years, from its founding in 1994 until his retirement in 2015. With his passing, we have lost a wonderful colleague and friend who uniquely shaped the MPIWG during its formative years and beyond. Jochen will be missed not just for his crucial contributions to life at the Institute but also for his originality, his wit, and his personal and strategic advice in all kinds of situations. This is very sad news for us all. Our thoughts are with Jochen’s family and friends.
