The notion of "law" as an incarnation of "logos," the basic possibility of truth statements, lies at the root of epistemology. Over time Western sciences forged a tight alliance with technology that facilitated the worldwide proliferation of such thought. In its purest form it is the quest for a unified theory, on the far side it would be a "science without law."
