Miriam Stein: Die gereizte Frau. Was unsere Gesellschaft mit meinen Wechseljahren zu tun hat

The irritable woman. What our society has to do with my menopause

Miriam Stein is a renowned journalist and author. In her most recent publication, the Spiegel bestseller Die gereizte Frau (The Irritable Woman), she deals with the topic of the so-called "Wechseljahre", which is largely neglected both socially and medically. The relevance of this book goes far beyond a personal experience report, as it is a multifaceted critique of a discourse that is still determined by patriarchal structures.
Miriam Stein shows that the "Wechseljahre" (aka menopause) is a downright taboo subject: Myths, shame and misinformation dominate the debates surrounding it. This has far-reaching consequences for women's health, which manifest themselves not least in the lack of investment of resources in corresponding medical research projects. Miriam Stein will tell us about all this, as well as her political commitment to the topic, in her presentation and offer the opportunity for questions.

After the event, we once again invite you to join the author for an informal discussion over coffee and cake.
