Film as Cure

Film and media historian Patrick Ellis explores the use of motion pictures as diagnostic, stimulant, and therapeutic. From the laboratory to the cinema, from the silent to the psychedelic era, this talk zooms in on little-known case studies from ophthalmology, vestibular medicine, psychodrama, and beyond, and in so doing introduces new concepts of media pathology, industrial cinephilia, and practitioner theory.
