Anthropocene Colloquium

The guest speaker is Ulrich Brand, Professor of International Politics at the University of Vienna and a prominent authority in the field of political ecology. Over the past 20 years, Brand's work has contributed a great deal to the theoretical understanding of the multiple crises of capitalism and the requirements for a comprehensive social-ecological transformation.

In the colloquium Ulrich Brand will introduce us to one of his latest efforts: A critical assessment of the planetary boundaries concept and its extension and complementation with a societal boundaries framework, that he undertook together with 27 further colleagues over the last two years. The (intermediate) result of that ambition is attached as preparatory reading for the seminar.
