Klimawandel, Pandemie, Krieg, Migration, wirtschaftliche Unsicherheit – in den letzten Jahren scheint die Zahl der Krisen und der anschließenden Forderungen nach Sofortmaßnahmen immer mehr an Tempo zu gewinnen. Unter diesen Umständen erscheint es vielen der am politischen Entscheidungsprozess Beteiligten offenkundig, dass die Wissenschaft eine zentrale Rolle übernehmen muss. Inmitten der Unwägbarkeiten verspricht sie einen klaren Blick auf Herausforderungen und Lösungsansätze, wenngleich sie dieses Versprechen nicht immer einlösen kann.
