Anne Gerritsen is professor of history at the University of Warwick in England. From the period from September 2013 through August 2018, she is also affiliated with Leiden University as part-time Professor of Asia-Europe Intercultural Dynamics with special attention to material culture, art, and human development, sponsored by the Kikkoman Foundation and the Association of Friends of Asian Art (VVAK). She holds an MA in Chinese Studies from Leiden University, and a PhD in East Asian Languages & Civilizations from Harvard University (2001). Her research interests include (Asian) material culture, especially porcelain in (global) history, food and food cultures in the exchange between Asia and Europe, theory and methods of history, and gender.
