Pierre-Yves Lacour studied history, art history, and history of science, obtaining his PhD in 2010 with a dissertation on natural history collections during the French Revolution. Since 2011, he has been Associate Professor (maître de conférences) of early modern history at Université Paul-Valéry-Montpellier 3. His thesis received an award in 2011 from the Société française d’histoire des sciences et des techniques. In 2014, he published a book based on his thesis: La République naturaliste. Collections d’histoire naturelle et Révolution française. 1789–1804 (Paris: Muséum national d’histoire naturelle). He joined the Revue d’histoire des sciences editorial board in 2017.
Pierre-Yves Lacour’s current research project deals with epistemic values and scholarly reputations from the 1770s to the 1830s in Europe.
