Isabela Dornelas is a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow at the Department III and a PhD candidate in History at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dornelas holds a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) scholarship to develop part of her thesis at the MPIWG, focusing on the experimentation of the cesarean section in Brazil. She will be a member of the “Childbirth Technologies across time and place” reading group hosted by Department III. Dornelas has recently been awarded the best dissertation prize granted by the Brazilian Society of History of Science. She also holds a scholarship from the Minas Gerais Research Foundation (FAPEMIG). Her current research interests are technical experimentation, surgical tools, and the history of obstetrical intervention during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
