Camille Creyghton

Camille Creyghton studied history and philosophy at the University of Leuven (KULeuven, Belgium) and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris). She completed her PhD (2016) at the University of Amsterdam under the supervision of Prof. Pim den Boer (UvA) and Prof. Jo Tollebeek (KULeuven). Her research looked at the reception of the historian Jules Michelet (1798–1874) in French historiography and politics from 1870 to the present.

Camille is a Lecturer in Cultural Studies and Research Fellow of the Vossius Center for the History of Humanities and Sciences. She researches and publishes within the domains of intellectual history, cultural history, history of the political and political culture of the end of the eigtheenth until the first half of the twentieth century. Currently, she is developing a new research project on the transfer of ideas among political exiles from various national backgrounds in a couple of European cities in the period 1815–1848. Her main interests concern questions about revolution and exile, political representation, history of science and humanities, and European thought.
