Britt Schlünz

Britt Schlünz studied history and philosophy at both the Humboldt-University of Berlin and University College London. For her PhD dissertation in history at Humboldt-University, she investigated the relationship between Catholic piety and politics in nineteenth-century Spain. Britt was a member of the Max Planck International Research School “Moral Economies of Modern Societies” at the Max Planck Institute of Human Development and a visiting fellow at the German Historical Institute Rome as well as at the University of California at Berkeley. Her monograph Pastoral und Politik. Katholische Frömmigkeit im Spanien des 19. Jahrhunderts was published with Campus-Verlag in 2024.

Since 2023 she has been a research scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) as part of the joint project LeNa Shape (Guidelines for Sustainability Management), which establishes the principle of “research in societal responsibility” regarding science organization and research processes. She also coordinates the MPIWG’s Sustainability Group.
