Alberto Bardi will defend his PhD dissertation in Byzantine Studies in July 2017 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. His research topic is the astronomy in Byzantum from thirteenth to fifteenth century. His dissertation is the critical edition of a Byzantine commentary to a set of astronomical tables stemming from Persian tradition, entitled Παράδοσις εἰς τοὺς περσικοὺς κανόνας τῆς ἀστρονομίας, Tradition for the Persian Tables of Astronomy (short version: Paradosis).
As the philological part is almost completed, he is going to improve his survey to make it suitable from the perspective of the History of Science and to provide the Paradosis of a detailed astronomical and mathematical commentary. His research interests include History of Astronomy, Byzantine Studies, History of Science, and Greek Philology.
