Jinguo Liu is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at Tsinghua University. His dissertation examines the establishment of the experimental systems for water conservation in modern China. At the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Jinguo will focus on Yellow River experiments conducted in Germany during the 1920s and 1930s, showing how the co-construction of knowledge across regions challenged the boundaries of modern scientific knowledge.
Jinguo also has a strong interest in premodern Chinese maps and has assembled and organized an extensive collection of historical cartographic materials.
