Allegra Fonda-Bonardi

Allegra Fonda-Bonardi (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI), where her dissertation centers on measurements of institutional accountability that are produced using automated tools, with an ethnographic focus on China. She is an NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant (DDRIG) awardee within its Science and Technology Studies program and has received a China-US Scholars Program (CUSP) fellowship to support her research. Her academic teaching at the University of Michigan has focused on data science- and information ethics. She has served as an intern at the History of Science Society (HSS) in its Editorial Practicum and has more recently contributed to several international standards-setting projects related to uses of artificial intelligence in the sustainable finance sector. In addition to her work on/within sociotechnical systems, Allegra has a background in urban planning and holds degrees from MIT and Oberlin College.
