How does science change, and who shapes it?
The event series Historical Moments explores science not as a string of isolated breakthroughs, but as a living, collaborative practice deeply woven into the fabric of society. Bringing together scientists, historians, and voices from culture, politics, and the arts, the series explores how science is made, how it shapes the world, and how it is remembered.
Across two years, Historical Moments invites audiences to look beyond familiar stories of progress, question who defines what counts as a breakthrough, and consider whose perspectives and contributions become part of the story.
Developed by the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (Department Artifacts, Action, Knowledge) with leading scientific and cultural institutions across Berlin, the series creates space for dialog between research, society, and the people shaping our possible futures. Talks, exhibitions, museum tours, and film screenings extend the conversation, connecting the history of science to the questions and choices that shape what comes next.
Some of the events may be recorded for public communications purposes (e.g. website, social media, etc.). If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the organizers.
