Sayori Ghoshal Receives HSS Derek Price/Rod Webster Prize

The History of Science Society (HSS) has awarded Research Scholar Sayori Ghoshal the Derek Price/Rod Webster Prize for her journal article "Experts of Identity: Race, Ethnicity and Science in India, 1910s–40s." In her article, published in Isis Volume 115 (1), she reimagines the history of anthropology in 20th-century India. She recasts the common narrative of a "retreat from racism" after the Second World War and documents the continued coloniality of the human sciences in India.

Awarded annually by the HSS, the Derek Price/Rod Webster Prize recognizes outstanding articles published in Isis, in recognition of outstanding scholarship in a highly competitive field.
