Razieh S. Mousavi Awarded British Association for Islamic Studies (BRAIS) Dissertation Prize 2025
Razieh S. Mousavi has been awarded the British Association for Islamic Studies (BRAIS) Dissertation Prize 2025 in the Study of Islam and the Muslim World.
Razieh's PhD, "Al-Farghānī’s Elements of Astronomy (c. 860 CE): An Interplay of Meaning and Form at the Intersection of Astronomical and Medical Tradition," was awarded by the Humboldt University Berlin in 2025. Razieh worked on the project as a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow in the MPIWG Department "Structural Changes in Systems of Knowledge" and is now a member of Department "Artifacts, Action, Knowledge."

The 2025 BRAIS Prize is an annual international award for an outstanding doctoral thesis on any aspect of the academic study of Islam and the Muslim world. Awarded by the British Association for Islamic Studies (BRAIS), it includes a prize of £1,000 and is presented at BRAIS's Annual Conference.
