The Lise Meitner Research Group "China in the Global System of Science" has been recognized among the "Best Research Environments 2024" by Die Junge Akademie and Volkswagen Foundation. This new award honors research environments that promote "good science and research by cultivating individual strengths which combine to form a greater whole that benefits everyone."

The 24 shortlisted nominees were selected for their efforts in "actively shap[ing] inspiring, supportive, and fair working conditions." Ten groups were then randomly drawn to receive 10,000 € to be used for team-building measures or to further develop cooperation-based work, such as through retreats, coaching, or further education and training.
