Postdoctoral Scholar Jacob Schmidt-Madsen has received the 2026 Chess Journalists of America Book of the Year Award in the category "Best Self-Published Book." The prize was awarded for The Horta-Osório Collection of Antique Chess Sets, Volume 1: India, coauthored with António Horta-Osório, Ulrich Schädler, Hugo Miguel Crespo, NM Jonathan Crumiller, Thomas Thomsen, Leander Feiler, GM Raymond Keene, and Jackie Eales. 

The volume highlights the items in António Horta-Osório's antique chess collection that originate from India and the Indian subcontinent. It features 14 chapters written by leading chess experts and historians, 212 photographs, and 68 illustrations.
