Director Dagmar Schäfer has received the Special Book Award of China. She is recognized for her work on the history and present of Chinese science, technology, and knowledge. The awarding ceremony was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on June 16, 2026.

The Special Book Awards of China honor international authors, translators, and publishers for their outstanding work that deepens the understanding of China internationally. They were established by the State Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China in 2005. This year's ceremony is the 19th edition.
