The World at Their Fingertips: German Teachers and International Encounters in the GDR

We welcome our very own Leah Fischer-Swierczynski, whose Master's research draws on oral history to show how former teachers at the Dorothea Christiane Erxleben Medical School in the East German town of Quedlinburg remember their role as first contacts for students from the Global South. A microhistorical approach centers their perspectives to explore how everyday work made international solidarity tangible.
