Nils Güttler

Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow (Aug 2018-Sep 2018)

Doctoral Student

Nils Güttler works on the role of maps in 19th-century botany. In particular, he focuses on plant geography and asks how maps have helped to generate knowledge about ecological relationships within this discipline. Since 2008 he has been a PhD student in Modern History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (supervised by Prof. Dr. Rüdiger vom Bruch). Since Autumn 2009 he has been an associate member at the Research Training Group "Notational Iconicity" (Freie Universität Berlin) and since November 2008 he is also a Wisiting Predoctoral Fellow in Department II at the MPlWG. Nils Güttler studied at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Uppsala Universitet, Sweden. He received his MA in Early Modern and Modern History and Modern German Literature from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in November 2007.
