Kaitlin Sager

Kaitlin Sager studies medieval literature at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is working on her dissertation on gender, disease, and disability in classical and medieval medicine and French romance literature from the high Middle Ages. She has had a fellowship at the Newberry Library, Chicago, and spent a semester as a visiting scholar at the École normale supérieure Ulm in Paris. In addition to her research on medieval medical humanities, Kaitlin is also interested manuscript studies and medieval material culture. She focuses on networks of manuscript copies in late medieval Europe in addition to incorporating textual and visual analysis into her work. Kaitlin’s current research project is on depictions of congenital abnormalities in premodern natural philosophy, medicine, and medieval literature. At the MPIWG she is a member of Katja Krause’s research group, “Experience in the Premodern Sciences of Soul and Body, ca. 800–1650.”
