Die Postdoktorandin Chanelle Adams ist als Künstlerin an der Biennale Gherdëina 10, „(Future) Paradise Gardens“, in Val Gardena in den Dolomiten (31. Mai bis 13. September 2026) beteiligt.
Chanelle verbindet ihre etablierte künstlerische Praxis mit ihrer aktuellen Forschung am Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte und stützt sich auf Archivquellen und Feldforschung, um Umweltgeschichten von Mutmaßungen, Rohstoffgewinnung und Artensterben zu untersuchen.
Ihre standortspezifische Installation "Test Pit" – bestehend aus einer Ausgrabung, einem Essay und einem Audioguide – setzt sich mit der geologischen Geschichte der Dolomiten und der Berge als Überreste urzeitlichen Meereslebens auseinander.
"Test Pit" entstand in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem renommierten Südtiroler Paläontologen Herwig Prinoth, das Sounddesign stammt von Jake Nicoll. Das Projekt wird vom KSCL Laboratory for Multimodal History am MPIWG und der Schweizer Kulturstiftung Pro Helvetia unterstützt.
Am MPIWG untersucht Chanelle derzeit das Leben und das Nachleben von Riesenschildkröten im südwestlichen Indischen Ozean.
