At present, the Institute works in rented offices in the building of the Embassy of the Czech Republic and in some additional rooms in the neighborhood. Conference rooms can be used as far as they are not needed by the embassy itself. A new building situated close to the Max Planck Archives and the campus of the Freie Universität in Berlin-Dahlem is in the planning state (Architects: Dietrich • Dietrich • Tafel, Stuttgart). Start of construction will be 2003.
