HAN Qi韓琦 received a PhD degree from the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991. Since 2000, he has served as a professor at the same institute, and in 2015 he became the vice-director. His main research field is East-West cultural exchanges from the seventeenth to twentieth century, especially the transmission of Western science in China during the Kangxi and Qianlong reigns. He has published numerous papers on the social history of scientific knowledge, dealing with the spread of Western science in China. He was the former vice-president of the International Society for the History of East Asian Science, Technology and Medicine and now serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Ziran kexueshi yanjiu自然科學史研究 (Studies in the Hstory of Natural Sciences) and member of the editorial board of the Archive for History of Exact Sciences, Annals of Science and Historia Scientiarum.
