Dr.

Josephine works as Editorial Assistant for Director Emerita Lorraine Daston, and provides consultation regarding publications and related issues concerning editing, bibliographies, images, copyright, liaison with publishers, and production workflows. In addition, she supports the organization of conferences and workshops, including budget management, event planning, media and photo documentation, and the production of programs and related publications. She has also coordinated the production process of the Working Group Books from Department II.

Josephine trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance, and worked as a ballet dancer. She studied theater and media studies, management and administration for academic institutions, edition philology, and received her PhD in cultural studies at Universität Bremen. Since 1993, she has published regularly within the field of dance, focusing on the development of dance and performance aesthetics as well as on the interrelationships between traditional dance rituals and contemporary dance culture. She edited several books in this research area and co-curated and co-organized numerous international dance research conferences and events.
