Cao Ling is an Associate Professor at the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), and gained her doctorate of the History of Science and Technology from Nanjing Agricultural University (2006) with a dissertation entitled "Digitization of Chinese Ancient Agricultural Books.”

Her former research focused on (1) Dataset construction of national historical natural disasters recorders; and (2) Digitization resources construction of Chinese Ancient Agricultural Materials. These projects have given the datasets to support further research.
