The focus of Annette Vogt’s research is the history of science in Germany during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In 2007, Annette Vogt published her study of women scientists at the Berlin University (today the Humboldt University) and the Kaiser Wilhelm Society (forerunner to the Max Planck Society). In her current research Annette Vogt examines female and male laboratory practices in German industrial research laboratories between 1870 and 1933. Her new study explores how scientific results were discovered, produced, published, and used. In her project she considers the question of scientific spaces, the role of scientific objects, the topics of various types of research, as well as different types of publications (patents for invention, journal articles, handbooks, and monographs.)Annette Vogt studied mathematics and physics at the University of Leipzig. There, she earned her first degree Diplom in mathematics (functional analysis), as well as her Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.) in the history of mathematics. Until 1991 she was a research scholar at the Institute for the Theory and History of Science of the Academy of Science of the GDR in Berlin. From 1992 to 1994, she worked at the Research Center (Forschungsschwerpunkt) of the History of Science in Berlin. From 1997 to 2005, she served as Secretary, since 2005 she is President of the Women's Commission of the Division for the History of Science and Technology within the International Union for the History and Philosophy of Science (DHST/IUHPS).
