Profile
My current research is divided between two projects. My first project, Studies of Science Before “Science Studies”: The Cold War and the Politics of Science in the U.S., U.K., and U.S.S.R., 1950s-1970s, which was my dissertation at the University of California at San Diego, investigates the history of Science Studies as it became a distinct area of expertise and academic inquiry during the Cold War. While revising my dissertation for publication as a book I am pursuing research on my second project, Big Science in the Archive, which examines the history of the World Data Centers in the U.S. and U.S.S.R., tracing it from their organization in 1957-8 during the International Geophysical Year (IGY) to their reorganization and activities following the end of the IGY.
Before completing my Ph.D. in History and Science Studies at the
University of California at San Diego in 2012, I earned a Ph.D. in Biology/History of Science
from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2003.
