Project (2013-2014)

Exhibition Project on Art and Alchemy

This was a collaborative project, "Das Geheimnis der Verwandlung," ("The Secret of Transformation") with the Museum Kunstpalast on an exhibition on art and alchemy, which opened in Düsseldorf (as part of the Quadriennale) in April 2014.

The exhibition presented works from all genres from antiquity to today, and artists such as Joseph Beuys, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Lucas Cranach, Goldin + Senneby, Max Ernst, Hendrick Goltzius, Rebecca Horn, Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens, Steiner & Lenzlinger, and David Teniers. It was divided into two major sections: Premodern Art, especially works of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, in which the alchemical world image was still largely universal; and Into the Art of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries, when alchemy opened up a counterworld to modern science.

A description of the exhibition project can be found here.
