Gabriella Szalay received her MPhil from Columbia University, New York in 2010. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Georg-August Universität Göttingen. Her dissertation, "Materializing the Past: The History of Art and Natural History in Germany, 1750–1800," investigates a network of German-speaking experts, dealing with the "antiquity," natural philosophy, and "new" kinds of science, such as chemistry. Gabriella has received research funding from the Smithsonian Institution Libraries and Columbia University, New York. Her wider research interests include history of science, art history, history of knowledge, material culture, collecting, Book Studies, and antiquarianism.
